 “The Nuestra Musica Radio Show” first came on the air waves in January 1994 on KVOE 1400 AM and 96.9FM in Emporia Kansas. “The Nuestra Musica Radio Show” is an award winning radio show that showcases the best in Tejano music. We try to feature up and coming artists along with a mix of the old and new. We also have Holiday Specials and Tribute Shows along with other specialty shows. 

Music, skits, comedy, trivia, givaways, features, interviews and local promotional contests. are all part of the Nuestra Musica Radio Show! 

 Throughout the years, “The Nuestra Musica Radio Show” has had features such as Exitos Tejanos Del Momento Y Mucho Mas, Tejano’s Top 10 Hits of the week, TTMA’s National Radio Show and the Pura Onda Radio Show and “Venimos a Triunfar” motivational series. Recently, the “Puro Pedo News Report”, La Pura Onda Radio Show and the “Chillen with The Jayhawker Interview Series” have been added to the rotation plus various local promotional contests.

 Tejano artists such as Little Joe, Flaco Jimenez, Patsy Torres, Emilio and Raulito Navaira, Campanas De America, Fandango USA, Ambixion, Latin Breed, DJ Kane, Delia Gonzalez Y Culturas, David DeAnda y Xelencia, Rodeo, Ruben Ramos, Mike Torres III, Michael Salgado, Adalberto and Grupo Vida have been interviewed over the years. As well as other groups such as Chicago, Rascall Flats, Los Lonely Boys, Texas Tornadoes, Kansas, Mariachi Vargas, Los Lobos and Brave Combo. And celebrities such as Paul Rodriguez, Johnny Canales, Pablo Montero, Robert Rodriguez, Willie Barcena, Danny Trejo, Hector Elizondo, Dizzy Gillespie, Clark Terry, Shiela E, Tito Puente and Jaime Escalante.

 Victor Rodriguez Jr. a.k.a. “The Jayhawker” and “The Phantom of Emporia” is the Disc Jockey for “The Nuestra Musica Radio Show.” He has been announcing and spinning discs for thirty years. His first experience in radio came in 1989 as a telephone assistant for the “Onda Chicana Show” in Denton, TX. on KNTU 88.1 FM. 

 He later moved into a weekday announcer position for their stations jazz format drive time spot Monday–Friday, along with co-hosting the “Onda Chicana Show” on Saturday mornings from 6:00am – 12:00pm until 1994. Within that time frame Vic also did radio spots and interviews for other radio stations such as KESS “la fabulosa” 1270 AM and “Radio Variedades” 92.3FM in Dallas, TX.

In 1994, he was nominated as the Up and Coming Disc Jockey in the Tejano category in Dallas, Tx.

In 1997, Vic was selected as one of the weekly co-hosts for TTMA’s Pura Onda Radio show out of San Antonio, Tx., which aired nationally in 40 states. And continued to submit his Top Ten Picks for the TTMA’s Tejano Music Awards Radio Show.
