DJ Super J
DJ Super J is a qualified IT professional with a BSC degree and has over 30 years of radio experience. A much loved radio presenter / MC / program director.
His radio career started at Audwax Radio (1989) while studying for his BSc. degree at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (Westville Campus). He presented various types of shows ranging from Weekday Breakfast, Lunch and drive time shows. He shared the airwaves with radio personalities like Kenny Maistry and Just ICE amongst others.
Super J has completed Commercial radio broadcasting courses with Solid Gold FM (Johannesburg, South Africa) in 1993. A station that was owned by South African radio legend Tony Sanderson. After completing the course Super J was offered to do the Sunday breakfast show. He presented the Breakfast show until the station was dissolved by the then Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) due to changed in the New South Africa broadcasting acts and issuing of commercial licenses were limited.
Together with the management of Solid Gold FM, Super J was involved in the starting up of Lenasia’s first Community Radio station East Wave Radio 92.2 FM (around June 1995). Super J was one of the first presenters to go on air. He presented the English Top 20 on Fridays and a Saturday Night Party show. This was the birth of The Weekend Wiggle. He shared the airwaves with the late Gavin Singh one of his closed friends.
In around 2012 Super J joined Lenz FM 93.6. He played a key role in getting the station started, programming , marketing and off course using his IT skills for software upgrades , automation, web development and bring listeners and prominent guests to the station. Super J also played a key role in getting their sister station Phoenix FM (Durban, South Africa) off the ground in 2018.
Super J was known to bring many esteemed guests into the studio. Guests ranged from popular musicians and actors, authors , dignitaries from government, beauty pageant contestants and winners and the list goes on.
In October 2015 Super J attended another Commercial Radio broadcasting course. This time round it was with HOT 91.9 . A course run by radio legends Lloyd Madurai , Darren Scott and Paul Almeida.
The Weekend Wiggle which is popular for Super J’s Old school tunes and mixes.
In December 2020 Super J’s Weekend Wiggle started broadcasting on various internet radio stations around the Globe i.e. South Africa , UK, Canada and USA.
The show is currently being broadcasted live every Saturday at 20h00 CAT.
When Super J is not in studio he is busy with doing Voice Overs for Jingles or Radio commercials, MC / Program Director for Events , Web Site design and video content creation.
His radio show airs every Saturday bringing you the best in old school music and great guests from the film and music industry, beauty pageants and the community at large for interviews
